DOUBLE LOFT
One pilot can’t stop dreaming about what is above the clouds, while the other tenant, a ceramicist, works with the earth. This duplex project explored the balance of coexistence while understanding independence. This challenge created two architectural typologies: lofting and burrowing. To acknowledge their connection, the tenants can meet through a three story atrium while still being sequestered in their own spaces. The ceramicist, who requires a store front as well as a residence, is able to burrow their shop beneath their second story homestead. The pilot is in a double loft, allowing clear views to the surrounding skies. Each tenant can feel comfortable in their own space without being isolated from one another.
